Reconstruction and Development Bloc Ends Parliament Boycott

Development Parliamentary Bloc announced on Tuesday that it would resume attending parliamentary sessions following Parliament Speaker Haibat Al-Halbousi’s approval to refer MP Youssef Al-Kilabi to the Conduct and Discipline Committee for legal action.

Bloc leader Bahaa Al-Araji said in a statement that the decision to return followed the speaker’s agreement to refer the case to the relevant committee, over what the bloc described as an offensive remark directed at Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, head of the Reconstruction and Development Coalition, inside parliament.

The bloc had announced on Monday that it was suspending its attendance at parliamentary sessions, demanding action against those it accused of violating parliamentary procedures and established political norms. Its decision to resume participation follows the parliament speaker’s response to its demand and the referral of the case to the Conduct and Discipline Committee.
