Al-Zaidi Directs Acceleration of New Cities’ Master Plans
Prime Minister Ali Falih Al-Zaidi on Tuesday directed officials to expedite the completion of master plans for new cities scheduled to be developed in Baghdad and other Iraqi provinces.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office, Al-Zaidi chaired a meeting to review progress on the implementation of the new cities project. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs, the Head of the Prime Minister’s Advisory Board, and a number of advisers and director generals.
Al-Zaidi stressed the need to accelerate the preparation of master plans ahead of the launch of construction, following the completion of the necessary land allocations. He noted that the planned cities would feature integrated urban centres incorporating government institutions, commercial and economic hubs, recreational facilities, and large residential complexes, helping improve public services and administrative infrastructure.
The prime minister also reviewed the measures taken by the relevant committees to prepare the master plans and identify implementation requirements, emphasizing the importance of developing sustainable, long-term solutions to address shortcomings in public services and infrastructure.
