Explosions Heard Across Baghdad as Unknown Drone Intercepted

Explosions were heard in several areas of Baghdad on Tuesday, extending from the city center to the south, prompting security forces to raise their alert levels across Karkh and Rusafa. Warning sirens were also activated at the US Embassy inside the Green Zone.

Security Media Cell chief Saad Maan said the sounds were caused by the interception of an unidentified drone near the Green Zone.

Eyewitnesses reported that debris from the drone fell near the Abdul Mohsen Al-Kadhimi checkpoint, in the Karrada district, and around the Green Zone.
