Al-Zaidi Calls for Accelerated Opening and Operation of Mosul International Airport
Prime Minister Ali Faleh al-Zaidi has called for expediting the procedures required to open and operate Mosul International Airport, as part of broader government efforts to advance major infrastructure and transportation projects.
According to a statement from the Prime Minister’s Media Office on Monday, al-Zaidi chaired a meeting to review several major service and strategic projects, including the modern cities initiative and the new Baghdad airport. The meeting was attended by senior officials, ministers, investment authorities, advisers, and the executive director of the Iraq Development Fund.
During the meeting, al-Zaidi stressed the need to accelerate project implementation and overcome bureaucratic obstacles, noting that Iraq requires a major airport capable of reflecting the importance of air transport and leveraging the country's geographical position to strengthen its economic role.
Discussions also covered the fourth ring road project in Baghdad, the development and rehabilitation of Baghdad International Airport, legal measures to address violations, and the proposed economic capital project.
