Al-Khazali Calls for Accelerated Survey of Illegal Encroachments and Measures to Prevent New Violations
Deputy Prime Minister for Services Affairs Laith Al-Khazali on Monday called for accelerating the identification and classification of illegal encroachments and preventing any new violations, as part of efforts to address informal settlements and unauthorized occupation of state-owned land.
According to a statement from his media office, Al-Khazali chaired the second meeting dedicated to reviewing the issue, attended by representatives of relevant ministries and government institutions. Discussions focused on legal and administrative obstacles and the development of practical, sustainable solutions.
Al-Khazali stressed the need for a humanitarian and social approach that takes families' circumstances and stability into account while safeguarding state property and citizens' dignity. He also emphasized moving beyond identifying problems toward implementing effective measures that address families' difficulties and protect their rights under the law.
The meeting also examined mechanisms for implementing relevant Cabinet decisions, particularly Resolution No. 320, as well as issues concerning agricultural land and land-use rights. Al-Khazali directed authorities to speed up the documentation and classification of encroachments, verify relevant data in coordination with competent agencies, and prevent the emergence of new violations.
He further called for reducing administrative delays, setting clear deadlines for completing the required procedures, and finalizing legal and technical proposals for submission to the Prime Minister, with the aim of reaching fair and sustainable solutions that protect state property while ensuring stability for affected families.
