Iraq’s Prime Minister Orders Permanent Appointments for Contract Workers, Announces 120,000 New Jobs for 2027

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali al-Zaidi has directed that contract workers and daily-wage employees across state ministries be transferred to permanent government positions, while announcing the creation of 120,000 new contract-based jobs under the 2027 federal budget.

The announcement came during a meeting chaired by al-Zaidi to discuss the details of the upcoming budget. He stated that the new positions would be open to various segments of society and distributed among Iraq’s provinces according to population proportions to ensure fair access to employment opportunities. A dedicated online platform will also be launched to receive applications and promote fairness among applicants.

Al-Zaidi stressed that the government would work to secure the necessary financial allocations to implement the decisions, ensuring that permanent appointments and the creation of new job positions proceed in accordance with approved regulations and procedures.
