Iran Links Agreement Signing to Release of Frozen Assets

Tehran has linked its signing of the proposed agreement with the United States to the release of a portion of its frozen assets, asserting that this condition represents one of the most prominent current points of contention in negotiations between the two sides. This statement came from an Iranian official familiar with the negotiation file, who clarified that his country would not sign the agreement unless Washington releases part of these funds. The official added that the proposed agreement includes clauses granting Iran the right to withdraw from it should the other party fail to adhere to the agreed-upon obligations. He also noted that the transition to a 60-day negotiation phase remains contingent upon the United States fulfilling its commitments. In a related context, the official explained that the potential agreement comprises 14 articles, with each article including annexes that will be subject to detailed negotiations in subsequent stages.
