Harry Kane Wins Ballon d’Or as Alexia Putellas Claims Third Women’s Award
Kane has won the Ballon d’Or following an outstanding season marked by record-breaking achievements that strengthened his reputation as one of football’s greatest goalscorers. He becomes the first English player to receive the prestigious award since Michael Owen won it in 2001.
In the women’s category, Spanish midfielder Alexia Putellas claimed the Ballon d’Or for the third time after leading Barcelona to a treble during the 2025–2026 season. She subsequently moved to London City, a club competing in the English Women’s Super League, in July, bringing her 14-year spell with the Catalan side to an end.
