Basra Police Arrest 8 Suspects in Drug Trafficking Case After Armed Confrontation

Basra Police announced the arrest of eight suspects allegedly involved in drug trafficking following a security operation conducted by emergency police patrols in the Al-Qibla area, which ended in a pursuit and an armed confrontation.

In a statement, the police command said the operation was launched after receiving intelligence about a group of motorcycle riders suspected of promoting illegal drugs. Security forces tracked down the suspects, pursued them in the field, and eventually surrounded and apprehended eight individuals.

The police added that the necessary legal procedures had been initiated against the suspects ahead of their referral to the relevant authorities for further investigation.
