Yemeni Government Forces Say They Foiled Major Houthi Attack in Lahj and Taiz

Yemeni government forces said on Thursday they had thwarted a large-scale Houthi assault across the fronts of the Tur Al-Baha axis in Lahj province, southern Yemen, claiming that all attacking forces had been eliminated.

The government forces also said they carried out six airstrikes targeting Houthi positions in the Al-Akboush area and on fronts in Hayfan district, southeast of Taiz province.

On Wednesday, a government military spokesman said eight operations had been conducted against Houthi reinforcements, weapons and military equipment. Fighting, artillery shelling and airstrikes were also reported along the Taiz front, targeting Houthi positions and gatherings amid reports that the group had intensified its attacks and deployed additional reinforcements to the area.
