WHO Updates Dementia Risk Factors
The World Health Organization has updated its guidance on preventing cognitive decline and dementia, adding seven new risk factors based on the latest available scientific evidence.
The newly identified factors include stroke, traumatic brain injuries, vision impairment, sleep disorders, HIV infection, air pollution, and hormone therapy used during menopause.
The update is part of broader efforts to strengthen dementia prevention and early intervention, as growing evidence highlights the role of health and environmental factors in cognitive decline and the development of dementia.
