WhatsApp tests offline voice-to-text feature on Android

WhatsApp, the instant messaging platform owned by Meta, has begun testing a new feature that allows users to convert spoken messages into text without an internet connection, as part of the app’s beta version for Android devices.

The feature enables users to simply say what they want to send, while WhatsApp converts their speech into written text instead of sending the original voice recording to the recipient.

The new option could provide a more convenient way for senders to communicate, while allowing recipients to read the content rather than having to listen to a voice message. However, an internet connection will still be required to send the resulting text message through WhatsApp.
