Wasit Lawyer Seeks Legal Action Against Hadi al-Amiri Over Remarks on October Protests

Lawyer Hazem Mazen al-Badri has filed an official complaint with the Chief Public Prosecutor in Wasit Province, calling for legal proceedings to be initiated against Badr Organization Secretary-General Hadi al-Amiri over recent remarks concerning the events of Iraq’s October protests.

According to the document submitted to the public prosecution, al-Badri based his complaint on a circulating video in which al-Amiri speaks about the role of what he described as the “resistance” in confronting what he called the “October sedition” and in preserving the state and political system.

Al-Badri argued that the remarks warrant a judicial investigation to determine the nature of the activities and actions carried out by the groups referred to as the “resistance,” including whether they were involved in attacks on protesters, suppressing demonstrations, or contributing to the deaths and injuries recorded during the protests.
