US-Iran Tensions Escalate Amid Preparations for Potential Military Strikes

US media reports point to growing military and precautionary measures across the Middle East as concerns mount over a possible renewed confrontation between Washington and Tehran, with both sides preparing for potential attacks in the coming weeks.

The Wall Street Journal, citing US officials, reported that the United States had evacuated some personnel from military bases in the region amid fears of possible Iranian attacks. The officials also said Iran's preparations to target American forces and interests in the Middle East had reached an advanced stage.

According to the report, President Donald Trump is leaning toward restarting major military operations against Iran. Options reportedly under consideration include strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities and islands controlled by Tehran, although no final decision has been reached.

The officials added that US naval forces in the Middle East are preparing for possible strikes against Iran in the coming weeks. The number of American warships operating in the region is also expected to rise to more than 24.

Separately, Bloomberg, citing informed sources, reported that Iran is preparing for the possibility of a renewed US bombing campaign around the November 3 midterm elections. Tehran is also reportedly developing plans to respond to any attacks across the region.

The sources warned that the period between the US elections and the new Congress assuming office in early January could become particularly sensitive, with the risk of escalating tensions and a broader military confrontation.

In another development, Bloomberg, citing shipping and maritime security officials, reported that Iran has intensified attacks on vessels in and around the Strait of Hormuz. Recent incidents have reportedly caused more extensive damage than those recorded during the initial stages of the conflict.

The officials said Iran has increasingly used guided missiles instead of drones in these attacks, contributing to the greater damage sustained by targeted vessels.
