UN Security Council Calls for De-escalation in Yemen and Resumption of Political Talks
Members of the UN Security Council urged Yemeni and regional parties to engage constructively with UN efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive and sustainable political settlement to the crisis in Yemen.
In a joint press statement, the Council called for an end to reciprocal military operations, continued Houthi attacks against Saudi Arabia, and rising tensions near the Bab al-Mandab Strait.
Council members expressed concern over the impact of developments on the security of international maritime navigation, global trade and energy supplies, while reaffirming their support for UN efforts to reduce tensions and revive negotiations.
