UAE Opens Investigation Into Flydubai Flight Diversion
UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi has ordered the formation of a Public Prosecution team to investigate an incident involving a Flydubai flight traveling from Dubai to Tel Aviv that changed course and landed safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia.
According to the Emirates News Agency (WAM), the investigation will focus on gathering information and evidence, determining the circumstances and motives behind the incident, and examining whether it was linked to any terrorist activity or involved prior planning or instructions.
WAM reported that the investigation team has begun its work in coordination with the General Civil Aviation Authority and other relevant authorities. The move follows Flydubai’s statement that an altercation occurred inside the cockpit during the flight, prompting members of the cabin crew to intervene and secure the aircraft.
