Trump: War with Iran Will End Soon as Gasoline Prices Expected to Fall
US President Donald Trump said on Friday that the situation involving Iran would change very soon, predicting that the war would come to an end in the near future and that gasoline prices would subsequently decline.
Speaking to reporters, Trump stressed that Iran must not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, adding that the conflict would end one way or another. He accused Tehran of years of aggressive conduct and of being responsible for the deaths of numerous Americans.
Trump reiterated that Washington seeks to ensure Iran never obtains nuclear weapons, emphasizing the need for firm guarantees to prevent such an outcome.
His remarks came as the Israeli newspaper Maariv reported that Israel's security establishment had detected signs of extensive US military preparations in the region, potentially ahead of an attack on Iran before the upcoming US midterm elections.
The newspaper noted that Israeli security officials are preparing for the possibility of another round of confrontation with Tehran amid indications of increased American military activity.
Meanwhile, Democratic US Senator Chris Murphy said on Thursday that he and a group of fellow senators had received a briefing on potential plans for military strikes against Iran, describing the proposals as "insane."
