Trump Plans to Establish AI Force and Appoint ‘AI Czar’

U.S. President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he intends to create a new position for a special artificial intelligence adviser, known as the “AI Czar,” alongside the establishment of an AI Force modeled after the Space Force created during his first term.

Trump reaffirmed his support for the expansion of the artificial intelligence industry, stressing that he would not seek to impose measures that could hinder its growth. He added that harmful uses of the technology could be addressed through existing criminal and civil justice systems.

The president said he would soon announce the appointment of the new AI adviser, calling on individuals with high IQs to apply for the position.

Trump described artificial intelligence as a potential next industrial revolution, or a transformation comparable to the emergence of the internet but with a far greater economic impact. He suggested that AI could eventually account for approximately 25% of the U.S. gross domestic product.

He also asserted that the United States is ahead of China and the rest of the world in the field, pledging to maintain that position.

Trump’s remarks come as legislative concerns continue to grow in Washington over the potential risks associated with artificial intelligence, while he has repeatedly called for avoiding additional regulations on the industry.

Meanwhile, technology researchers have warned of potentially serious long-term risks linked to the rapid development of AI, with some experts suggesting that the technology could pose significant threats to humanity in the coming years
