Three-Year Prison Sentence for Man Impersonating Popular Mobilization Forces Brigadier General in Karbala

The Karbala Criminal Court has sentenced a convicted man to three years in prison for impersonating a brigadier general in the Popular Mobilization Forces in an attempt to obtain financial gains through fraudulent means.

In a statement, the Supreme Judicial Council’s media office said the defendant had exploited the false military rank to collect money from citizens in exchange for making false promises of securing government jobs for them.

According to the statement, authorities seized a rifle, a pistol, electronic payment cards and security force insignia in his possession, along with forged identification documents and badges. They also found a bag containing official applications and sums of money.

The council said the ruling was issued under Article 1/1 and 2 of Resolution No. 160 of 1983, with reference to Article 132/3 of the Penal Code.
