Three Suspects Arrested as Iraqi Forces Seize Over 13,000 Pills and 1kg of Crystal Meth in Salah Al-Din and Babil

Iraqi security forces arrested three suspects accused of drug trafficking in separate operations carried out in Salah Al-Din and Babil governorates on Sunday, seizing large quantities of narcotic pills and crystal methamphetamine.

The Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs said in a statement that its Nineveh anti-narcotics units, in coordination with their counterparts in Salah Al-Din, set up a security ambush that led to the arrest of two suspects in Salah Al-Din. The operation resulted in the seizure of 13,500 psychotropic pills.

In Babil, the Directorate of Intelligence and Security announced the arrest of a suspect it described as a “dangerous” drug trafficker. Authorities reportedly found one kilogram of crystal methamphetamine, along with drug-use ampoules and gas canisters used for anesthesia, in his possession.

The directorate stated that the operation was conducted in coordination with Babil’s Directorate of Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Affairs after the suspect was lured from Kirkuk and apprehended in a carefully planned ambush.
