Three Dhi Qar Governorate Employees Sentenced to Prison over Bribery
The Dhi Qar Criminal Court has sentenced three employees of the governorate’s administration to prison after convicting them of accepting a bribe of 10 million Iraqi dinars in exchange for releasing payments owed to a contractor.
A security source said the convicted individuals included Hazem Al-Saeedi, head of project accounts at the governorate’s administration. The three employees were arrested in the act, the source added.
The prison sentences ranged from six to eight years, with the harshest penalty handed to the head of project accounts, who received an eight-year sentence.
The source noted that the rulings were issued under Resolution No. 160 of 1983, enacted by the now-dissolved Revolutionary Command Council.
