Tensions Escalate in Semnan, Iran: Iraqi Students Targeted in Second Attack as Authorities Launch Inquiry

Iraqi students residing in the Ferdowsi neighborhood of Semnan, Iran, were subjected to a second attack on Monday evening, marking the second such violence targeting their dormitories within 24 hours.

Footage circulating online captured Iraqi students holding wooden sticks in self-defense, with some calling for knives and urging immediate contact with local police forces to intervene.

Commenting on the events, Haider Nassar, Acting Iraqi Cultural Attaché in Tehran, stated that the Iraqi Embassy is closely coordinating with Iranian security agencies, university leadership, and the Ministry of Science. He noted that the initial incident ended early in the morning and that safety measures had been reinforced.

Concurrently, Mohammad Sadiq Akbari, Chief Justice of Semnan Province, announced that the case regarding the clashes has been referred to judicial and security authorities. Akbari confirmed that legal orders were issued to identify those involved, resulting in the arrest of two suspects while investigations remain ongoing.
