SuperQi and Palestinians in Iraq… A Small Step That Could Support Financial Inclusion

On August 27, 2026, the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Iraq announced the success of its efforts, in coordination with the Central Bank of Iraq and Qi, to include members of the Palestinian community and Palestinian refugees residing in Iraq in the services of the SuperQi application.

The step supports efforts toward financial inclusion and the transition to electronic payments, as the application provides a range of financial and digital services that help facilitate everyday transactions and reduce reliance on cash.

The importance now lies in moving from the announcement to actual implementation by establishing a clear mechanism that enables beneficiaries to access SuperQi and Qi Card services in accordance with the approved regulations. This is in line with the Central Bank of Iraq’s efforts to expand the user base of digital financial services and strengthen financial inclusion.

In addition, the initiative could bring new users into Iraq’s electronic payments ecosystem and digital economy, support the wider adoption of digital wallets, mobile payments, and QR payments, and contribute to the development of the country’s FinTech market.

In this sense, the initiative could serve as a practical model for turning financial inclusion objectives into accessible services on the ground.
