Sisi Affirms Egypt’s Support for Iraq’s Stability and State Control of Weapons

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to Iraq’s security and stability, expressing support for measures taken by the Iraqi state to control weapons and combat corruption in order to safeguard Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Sisi made the remarks during a meeting in Cairo with Ammar Al-Hakim, leader of the Hikma Movement, in the presence of General Intelligence Chief Hassan Rashad.

During the meeting, Sisi stressed the importance of maintaining communication with Iraqi state institutions as well as political and national forces, within the framework of the strong fraternal ties between Egypt and Iraq.

Egyptian presidential spokesman Mohamed El-Shennawy said the talks also addressed current regional developments and their repercussions on countries across the region. Sisi presented Egypt’s approach of prioritizing peaceful solutions to crises and conflicts, while supporting legitimate institutions and reinforcing the concept of an inclusive national state.
