Saudi Civil Defense lifts danger alert for Makkah and several regions

Saudi Arabia’s General Directorate of Civil Defense announced on Thursday that the danger alert had ended in the city of Makkah, as well as the governorates of Taif, Jeddah and Yanbu, in addition to the Tabuk region. It urged citizens and residents to continue following preventive safety instructions.

Earlier in the day, the Civil Defense issued an alert through the National Early Warning Platform, warning of a potential hazard affecting Makkah, Taif, Jeddah, Yanbu and Tabuk and calling on residents to follow official safety directives.

The guidance advised people to remain calm and seek shelter inside buildings, preferably in an interior room away from windows and glass, and to remain there until the danger had passed.

Residents were also instructed to avoid leaving their homes or buildings while the alert remained in effect, stay away from exposed areas, rooftops and balconies, and avoid dangerous locations and gatherings. People outdoors were advised to move to the nearest safe building or shelter and refrain from filming the incident.

Drivers who receive an alert while on the road were advised to pull over safely at the roadside, away from bridges and tall buildings.
