Qatar Museums Unveils Major Exhibition Exploring the Legacy of the Baghdad Modern Art Group

Qatar Museums has announced details of “What Lingers in the Artist’s Mind: Experiments and Legacies of the Baghdad Modern Art Group,” a major exhibition at Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art that explores the history, legacy, and continued significance of the influential artistic collective.

The exhibition will run from October 25, 2026, through February 6, 2027.

Drawing on Mathaf’s internationally recognised collections, the exhibition will feature paintings, sculptures, sketches, photographs, archival materials, and original research. Together, these works examine one of the Arab world’s defining modern art movements and highlight the Baghdad Modern Art Group’s lasting impact on generations of artists in Iraq and throughout the wider region.
