Qalibaf: Iran Foiled US Plan to Launch Military Action from Iraq’s Kurdistan Region

Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said that Iran had thwarted a US plan to carry out security and military operations against the country from Iraq’s Kurdistan Region during the recent war.

Ghalibaf made the remarks during a meeting with Patriotic Union of Kurdistan President Bafel Talabani in Tehran, accusing the United States and Israel of seeking to fuel divisions among regional countries, particularly between Iran and Iraq.

Meanwhile, Ali Akbar Velayati, an adviser to Iran’s Supreme Leader, told Talabani that Iraq holds a special position in Iran’s foreign policy, stressing the need to remain vigilant against the ambitions of certain countries in the region.
