Planning Ministry: 2027 Budget to Prioritize Ongoing Projects
Iraq’s Ministry of Planning has completed the first draft of the investment framework for the 2027 budget, with a focus on completing ongoing projects based on progress rates and actual needs, while limiting the addition of new projects to critical cases.
The ministry said investment spending could account for around 20–25% of the overall state budget, while outstanding payments to contractors are estimated at about 8 trillion Iraqi dinars. It also noted that around 3,000 projects are currently underway across government ministries, with efforts focused on resolving stalled projects and bringing completed ones into service.
