Mathaf to Revisit the Legacy of Baghdad Modern Art Group in Major Exhibition

Mathaf: Arab Museum of Modern Art in Doha is preparing to present “What Lingers in the Artist Mind: Experiments and Legacies of the Baghdad Modern Art Group,” a major exhibition examining one of the most influential movements in modern Iraqi art.

The exhibition will feature paintings, sculptures, drawings, photographs and archival materials arranged across 17 thematic sections, tracing the movement’s development from the 1940s to the present and exploring its lasting influence on Iraqi and Arab artistic practice. It will run from October 25, 2026, through February 6, 2027.
