Mastercard Recognizes Iraq’s Qi Card for Excellence in Cybersecurity and Fraud Prevention

International Smart Card (ISC), known as Qi Card in Iraq, has been recognized in the 2026 Mastercard Circle of Honor program for its efforts to strengthen cybersecurity and develop proactive measures to detect and prevent payment fraud.

According to Mastercard’s official website, ISC integrated Mastercard Threat Intelligence capabilities into its existing fraud-monitoring systems to identify suspicious card-testing activity and detect potential threats at an earlier stage. The approach aims to reduce fraud risks, improve customer protection and minimize disruption to legitimate transactions.

During a six-month trial, the system flagged 3,246 card-testing transactions and identified 1,377 high-risk primary account numbers (PANs), with zero false positives recorded throughout the trial period, according to Mastercard.

The recognition highlights ongoing efforts to strengthen digital payment security and build greater trust in electronic financial transactions amid increasingly sophisticated cyber threats.
