Man Arrested for Celebratory Gunfire as Iraqi Forces Foil Smuggling of 185 Cattle

Iraqi security forces on Friday arrested a man who fired shots into the air to celebrate his team’s victory in a football match in Salah al-Din province, while authorities also foiled an attempt to smuggle 185 calves and cattle across the border in Sulaymaniyah.

Salah al-Din Police said patrol units and the Ishaqi Police Department moved after receiving information about the gunfire and managed to arrest the suspect and seize his weapon. During questioning, the man reportedly admitted to firing the shots following his team’s victory. He was detained under Resolution 570 and referred to the competent court for legal proceedings.

Separately, the Iraqi Border Forces announced that units from the 3rd Border Brigade, operating under the 1st Region Border Command, had foiled several smuggling operations involving 185 calves and cattle in Sulaymaniyah province. The forces also arrested the alleged smugglers and referred them to the relevant authorities for further legal action.
