Kirkuk Police Arrest Two Suspects for Illegal Electric Fishing in the Lower Zab River

River police personnel in the Altun Kupri area, affiliated with the Kirkuk Police Command, arrested two suspects caught engaging in illegal fishing using prohibited electric-shocking equipment in the waters of the Lower Zab River.

According to the police, the arrests were made during routine patrols and ongoing surveillance. Authorities warned that electric fishing poses a serious threat to the aquatic environment, causing extensive damage to fish stocks and other aquatic organisms.

The seized fishing equipment was confiscated, and the necessary legal procedures were initiated against the suspects. They were subsequently handed over to the relevant police station for further proceedings before being referred to the judiciary.
