Kirkuk Police Arrest Three-Woman Gang Accused of Theft and Pickpocketing

Security forces in Kirkuk have arrested a three-member female gang accused of carrying out theft and pickpocketing operations targeting shoppers and citizens in one of the city’s main markets.

Kirkuk Police Chief Major General Fattah Al-Khafaji said personnel from the Azadi Criminal Investigation Office arrested the three suspects after they entered the city last week and began carrying out theft operations in the Grand Market.

He explained that criminal investigation units intensified intelligence gathering and surveillance after several theft incidents were reported. A carefully planned security ambush was subsequently carried out, resulting in the suspects’ arrest while allegedly caught in the act, shortly after they began their activities in the city.

The suspects were subjected to the required legal procedures and their statements were recorded. A judge ordered their detention under Article 446 of the Iraqi Penal Code, with the case referred to the competent courts for further legal proceedings.
