Israeli Army Announces Redeployment From Ali al-Taher Heights in Southern Lebanon

The Israeli army announced Friday that it had withdrawn its forces from direct positions on the Ali al-Taher Heights in southern Lebanon and redeployed them to rear positions in the Shaqif area following a military operation there.

The army said the heights would remain under what it described as “fire control,” stressing that its forces would prevent Hezbollah from returning to the area or establishing new military positions.

The redeployment followed an Israeli blast operation in the heights, which the army said targeted Hezbollah infrastructure and a tunnel network extending for more than two kilometers.

The explosion was reportedly heard across large parts of Nabatieh Governorate, while Lebanon’s National Center for Geophysics said it detected ground waves associated with the blast.

The Ali al-Taher Heights are considered strategically important because of their elevation of around 600 meters and their commanding view over large areas of southern Lebanon. The area lies between Kfar Tebnit and Nabatieh al-Fawqa, north of the Litani River.

The development comes amid continued security activity in southern Lebanon, with Israeli forces shifting from a direct deployment at the site to surveillance and firepower aimed at preventing any Hezbollah return to the area.
