Iraq’s Trade Ministry Vows to Curb Unjustified Price Hikes
Iraq’s Ministry of Trade has reaffirmed that food security and protecting consumers’ purchasing power remain key priorities, pledging tighter market oversight to prevent traders from exploiting the dollar exchange rate adjustment to impose unjustified price increases.
Ministry adviser Mohammed Hannoun said authorities are monitoring prices and the availability of essential goods in coordination with relevant agencies, while ensuring continued supplies of food ration items and flour. The ministry also vowed legal action against violators and monopolistic practices to maintain market stability and safeguard consumers.
