Iraq’s Interior Ministry Reports Arrest of 74 Infiltrators Along Borders in September

Iraq’s Ministry of Interior announced on Tuesday that security forces had apprehended 74 individuals of various nationalities for illegally crossing the country’s international borders during September, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen border surveillance and prevent unauthorized entry.

Major General Miqdad Miri, head of the ministry’s Relations and Media Department, said security forces continue to monitor and patrol the borders around the clock. These efforts are accompanied by ongoing border fortification projects, including the construction of a concrete wall extending from the Rabi’a area in northern Iraq toward Fishkhabur, near the Iraqi-Syrian-Turkish border junction.

Miri added that the measures are intended to tighten border control and curb infiltration attempts and other illegal activities. He emphasized that security operations will continue in accordance with established plans, combining field operations, intelligence efforts and technical fortifications to safeguard Iraq’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
