Iraq’s Coordination Framework to Discuss Cabinet Completion and 2027 Budget
Leaders of Iraq’s Coordination Framework are set to meet on Monday evening in the presence of Prime Minister Ali Al-Zeidi and Finance Minister Faleh Sari to discuss several key government and political issues, including the completion of the ministerial cabinet and the 2027 federal budget.
A well-informed source said the meeting will also address efforts to place all weapons under state control, as well as the pending ministerial appointments. A vote on the remaining cabinet positions is expected by the end of this week or early next week, the source added.
The meeting will also include a briefing by the finance minister on the draft 2027 budget law, along with related financial and economic issues and matters carrying political implications.
The Coordination Framework had said during an emergency meeting last Friday that June 30, 2027, would be the agreed final deadline for implementing the constitutional provision concerning the weapons issue, while calling on all parties to maintain comprehensive calm.
Separately, a well-informed source said the State of Law Coalition, led by Nouri Al-Maliki, has officially nominated Yasser Sakheel for the position of interior minister, while Haider Baha, currently dean of the College of Pharmacy at Al-Nahrain University, has been nominated for the post of higher education minister.
