Iraq’s Central Bank Announces New Dollar Exchange Rates Effective Today
The Central Bank of Iraq announced on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, the introduction of new exchange rates for the U.S. dollar against the Iraqi dinar, citing current economic and financial conditions and a recommendation from the Council of Ministers.
According to a statement issued by the bank, the new rates are as follows:
- 1,500 dinars for purchasing U.S. dollars from the Ministry of Finance.
- 1,510 dinars for selling U.S. dollars to banks.
- 1,520 dinars for selling U.S. dollars to the public.
The Central Bank also affirmed that its foreign currency reserves are sufficient to meet all demand for foreign currency, including financing international trade, settling overseas transactions made through bank cards, and providing cash currency to travelers.
