Iraqi President Reviews Security and Service Development Plans with Interior Ministry Senior Deputy

Iraqi President Nizar Amedi received Interior Ministry Senior Deputy Hussein Al-Awadi on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad to discuss developments in security affairs and plans to improve the ministry’s performance.

The meeting addressed the latest security developments and preparations for the coming phase. President Amedi stressed the importance of modernizing work methods, strengthening operational readiness and enhancing coordination among relevant institutions to ensure an effective response to emerging security challenges.

The president also praised the Interior Ministry’s role in maintaining security and stability and protecting citizens, while commending its efforts to provide public services, process citizens’ transactions and facilitate their affairs.

For his part, Al-Awadi briefed the president on the ministry’s ongoing activities and its key plans and programs for the next phase, reaffirming efforts to improve performance and develop working mechanisms in line with current requirements.
