Iraqi President Highlights Importance of Strengthening Ties with Lebanon

President Nizar Amedi on Tuesday stressed the need to further develop relations between Iraq and Lebanon and expand areas of bilateral cooperation in a way that serves the mutual interests of both countries.

According to a statement from the Presidency’s media office, Amedi received Lebanese Ambassador-designate to Iraq Mohammed Redha Al-Husseini at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad on October 6, 2026. The ambassador presented his credentials and was wished success in carrying out his new diplomatic duties.

The president underscored the importance of strengthening ties between Baghdad and Beirut and broadening cooperation across various fields. He also emphasized the need for diplomatic representation to play an active role in presenting Iraq’s image and supporting the country’s engagement with the international community.

For his part, Ambassador Mohammed Redha Al-Husseini expressed his commitment to advancing Iraqi-Lebanese relations and making use of available opportunities for cooperation in the political, economic and cultural sectors, with the aim of strengthening ties between the two countries and their peoples.
