Iraqi PM Stresses Associated Gas Investment in Talks with TotalEnergies and ConocoPhillips

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi has underscored the importance of developing the country's associated gas resources, highlighting the government's commitment to maximizing domestic production and ending gas imports in the coming years.

According to a statement from the Prime Minister's Office, Al-Zaidi met on Sunday with TotalEnergies Chief Executive Officer Patrick Pouyanné and ConocoPhillips executive Andy O’Brien, accompanied by delegations from both companies.

The discussions focused on expanding oil and associated gas production at the Bin Omar field in Basra province, establishing timelines for increasing output, and reviewing plans to boost production across other oil fields.

Al-Zaidi emphasized that Iraq has significant potential in the associated gas sector, stressing the government's plans to fully utilize these resources and eliminate the need for gas imports within the next few years.

The executives of both companies expressed their willingness to intensify efforts and adhere to the agreed schedules to increase production levels and advance the planned projects.
