Iraqi Interior Ministry Denies Explosion in Baghdad’s Al-Sham’iya Area

The Iraqi Ministry of Interior on Monday denied reports claiming that an explosion had occurred in the Al-Sham’iya area of Baghdad.

Ministry spokesperson Colonel Mohammed Ali Al-Hassoun said in a statement that reports of an explosion in Al-Sham’iya, on the Rusafa side of the capital, were untrue.

He explained that the incident was actually a fire that broke out at an electricity station and was accompanied by a loud noise. Preliminary information indicated that one person was killed and three others were injured.
