Iraqi Customs Seizes Non-Compliant Shipment of Medicines and Soap at Trebil Border Crossing

The General Authority of Customs announced on Friday the seizure of a shipment containing quantities of medicines and soap that violated applicable regulations at the Trebil border crossing.

In a statement, the authority said that customs personnel at the Trebil Border Customs Center, in cooperation with supporting agencies, intercepted the shipment following inspection and customs checks, which revealed that it lacked an import license and the required approvals from the Ministry of Health.

The authority added that the medicines were being transported in an unrefrigerated metal container under conditions that failed to meet the approved requirements for the transportation and storage of pharmaceutical products.

An official seizure report was prepared, and legal measures were taken against the shipment in accordance with the applicable laws and regulations. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening inspections at border crossings to protect public health and prevent goods that fail to meet health and legal requirements from entering Iraqi markets
