Iraq Plans to Expand Oil Tanker Fleet with Large Vessels and Maritime Partnerships
Iraq’s Ministry of Oil announced on Monday that the country currently operates a fleet of six medium and small oil tankers, revealing plans to purchase larger vessels and establish partnerships with reputable companies specializing in maritime transportation.
Ministry spokesperson Salim Al-Rikabi said the proposed measures aim to expand the capabilities of Iraq’s tanker fleet through the acquisition of large vessels, alongside cooperation agreements with experienced companies in the maritime transport sector.
He added that renting tankers from other companies is intended to meet crude oil storage requirements or transport shipments beyond the strait.
