Iraq Orders Subsidized Fuel Supplies for Private Generators in September

Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Faleh Al-Zaidi on Tuesday directed authorities to provide subsidized fuel to private generators throughout September, following protests by generator operators in Baghdad over the level of support provided by the Oil Ministry.

Under the new directive, private generators will receive 40 liters of fuel per kilowatt-hour at a subsidized price of 400 Iraqi dinars per liter, while continuing to operate under the currently approved schedule.

Al-Zaidi also instructed authorities to ensure that residents receive electricity for at least 20 hours per day, through alternating supply between the national power grid and private generators.
