Iraq and Kuwait Foil Attempt to Smuggle 700,000 Captagon Pills and Arrest Two Suspects

The General Directorate for Narcotics Affairs announced today that an attempt to smuggle around 700,000 Captagon pills from Iraq to Kuwait had been foiled, with two suspects arrested in connection with the operation.

In a statement, the directorate said the operation resulted from cross-border intelligence efforts carried out in cooperation with Kuwait’s General Directorate for Narcotics Control. The operation led to the seizure of the narcotics and the arrest of two suspects, one of them an Iraqi national and the other an individual residing illegally in Kuwait.

The directorate stressed that efforts to track down drug trafficking and smuggling networks would continue, alongside expanded security cooperation with relevant authorities in neighboring and friendly countries to dismantle smuggling routes, disrupt the networks’ sources of funding, and prevent drugs from reaching communities.
