Iran’s IRGC Says Five Militants Killed in Saravan Security Operation

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on Saturday that five members of what it described as a “terrorist cell” were killed during a security operation in Saravan, in the southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan.

The IRGC’s Quds Base said the operation began early in the morning and targeted a hideout belonging to individuals it described as hostile to security. It initially reported that four members of the cell had been killed before revising the death toll to five.

The IRGC said security forces also seized weapons, ammunition and explosive materials, adding that the cell had allegedly been preparing assassination operations in the area. Three IRGC personnel were also killed during the clashes, which continued until late morning.
