IMF Forecasts 19% Growth for Iraq in 2027, the Highest Rate Among Arab Economies

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) expects Iraq to lead Arab economies in economic growth in 2027, with a projected growth rate of 19%, according to its forecasts for regional economic performance in 2026 and 2027.

The fund noted that Arab economies experienced significant shifts during this period. In 2026, several Arab oil-exporting countries faced substantial economic contraction amid disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and declining oil supplies, putting pressure on several regional economies, particularly in the Gulf.

Most Arab economies are expected to recover in 2027 as oil exports return to normal levels and security conditions improve, according to the IMF’s projections.

Iraq is forecast to rank first among Arab countries, with anticipated economic growth of 19%, the highest projected rate in the region.
