Hassan Hajjaj Celebrates Music Icons in “My Rock Stars” Exhibition in Paris

The Musée de la musique at the Cité de la musique in Paris is hosting a major exhibition dedicated to Moroccan artist Hassan Hajjaj, titled “Hassan Hajjaj: My Rock Stars”, running from September 22, 2026, to April 25, 2027. The exhibition explores his distinctive visual universe, combining photography, design and contemporary art.

The show features a selection of Hajjaj’s colorful portraits and works, highlighting the artistic language he developed through his Moroccan heritage and the multicultural influences of his life in London.

Born in Larache, Morocco, in 1961 and raised in London, Hajjaj has become known for vibrant, highly stylized portraits that bring together traditional Moroccan elements with contemporary urban culture. His subjects range from unknown faces to internationally recognized figures from music and the arts.

“My Rock Stars” features portraits of prominent musicians and performers, including Lee “Scratch” Perry, Tierra Whack, Wu-Tang Clan, the legendary Malian duo Amadou & Mariam, Keziah Jones, Marshmello, Maya Barouh and Busta Rhymes, alongside other figures from the global music scene.

The exhibition is accompanied by an interactive sound work by Acid Arab, creating a dialogue between Hajjaj’s colorful imagery and electronic music while offering visitors a lively, multicultural experience.
