Former MP Kadhim Al-Sayadi Expected to Be Released Following Prime Minister's Withdrawal of Complaint
A knowledgeable source revealed on Sunday that legal arrangements are underway to release former State of Law Coalition MP Kadhim Al-Sayadi today or Monday, following Prime Minister Ali Al-Zaidi's decision to drop the legal complaint filed against him.
The source noted that Al-Sayadi's release remains subject to the finalization of official administrative procedures regarding the withdrawn charge.
Security forces previously arrested Al-Sayadi on August 17 on extortion charges pursuant to judicial warrants. The arrest coincided with the government's ongoing anti-corruption initiative, "Operation Dawn's Assault" (Sowlat Al-Fajr), launched in late June, though Al-Sayadi had previously denied any link to corruption probes.
